December Newsletter 2003
Shaun's Report (Fishery Manager)
A settled winter so far, with consistent fishing during November and early December. Patterns fishing well are Black and Green Damsels or tadpoles, but as last month, white, orange and yellow featuring.
Member and Guest Results 6,7 & 8th Dec
Saturday a little wet but all fishermen rewarded with good bags
Sat results:
Best bag: S Orchin & K Salliss 25lb 6oz
Sunday results:
Best bag: C Spicer & R Trowsdale 24lb 14oz
Mon results:
Best bag: P Timms & Guest 18lb 5oz
Sunday was a lot colder. Many caught but found limits hard, similar to Monday. All enjoyed hot soup and Christmas lunch at lunchtime. Thanks to all who supported and congratulations to winners of the Member & Guest – Shaun Orchin & Ken Salliss.
Christmas Party
Unfortunately this has been cancelled. We needed 70+ but only 43 had booked and deposited (sorry).
Trophy Returns
All who had won trophies last year, it’s time to return them please ready for engraving in time for April AGM. If we have not received them by 1st February, I shall remind those personally who have not returned them, please remember to bring them back.
Pairs and Singles
Many being fished, but some forgetting your round deadlines. Phone me if you have problems, you may be given a small extension in time to fish these rounds.
Boxing Day and New Year
Both proving popular. A good half to three quarter full on each day. If you want to fish, phone me to secure your place as the post I’m sure will struggle to get here.
Finally may I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year. I hope to see many of you over Christmas. Wrap up warm!

Secretary’s Report
A little rain but not too much, some cold nights and reasonably mild days are resulting in some excellent sport with limits perhaps a little easy to achieve. Still it is always nice to approach a day with high levels of confidence. Let’s hope it lasts.
The singles and pairs are underway and some keenly fought contests have already taken place throwing up some surprise results, notably the victory recorded by the Mean Machine (Club Chairman and Secretary!)
Not a great deal of activity in the lead up to Christmas but immediately after we launch into the now traditional Boxing and New Year’s Day brace. There are still a few places left for both days and a good excuse to work off some of the festive excesses – or perhaps add to them in the bar!
Can I close off 2003 by thanking all members for their support at our various events and we hope this continues into the New Year.
Finally a very happy Christmas to you and your families and here’s hoping for a fishful and world record (yes it is still at large) New Year.

Chairman's Report
As this is the last newsletter of 03, it gives me the opportunity of wishing one and all, on behalf of the committee and myself, a very happy Christmas.
I will take advantage of the January newsletter for New Year greetings and a reflection of the year.
I had to smile at Greg Mutch’s observation on Keith Winchester fishing without a fly. If you still have a copy of our June report, you will understand.
A Happy Birthday to our Club which is 11 years young on the 11th December.
Yours in sport,
Mike Lawrence
Chairman
